Abstract |
radio activities a long poem with fifteen parts began as a meditation on/polemic against/reckoning with a genre of music called rap-rock and/or nu-metal and its influence on my life. Though rap-rock may seem like a trivial or humorous subject to engage with critically an aspect of this discussion the poem very much embraces the verse attempts to dig deeply into superficial facades, puncturing (as well as reviving) the thin exterior of this genres commercial success (and its awkward legacy) in order to, namely,interrogate the morbid. endurance of whiteness and toxic-masculinity in pop culture today. As it grew, the poem breached its primary preoccupation with rap-rock lyrics and aesthetics;radio activities abounds in a constant recycling of various media, including conceits common in Aesop�s fables and Greek mythology, to various films, works of visual art, and contemporary poetry, as well as personal experiences of mine that, in my commitment to an ekphrastic mode of writing, fused to |
