Armed men entered the Jesuit residence at the University of Central America in San Salvador and shot and killed six Jesuit priests and two others. Killed were Ignacio Ellacuria, the rector (president) of the university; Ignacio Martin-Baro, vice-regent; Segundo Montes; Arnando Lopez; Joaquin Lopez y Lopez; Juan Ramon Moreno; Julia Elba Ramos, the cook; and Cecilia Ramos, the cook's daughter.
